Do You Worry About Everything? Wasting Energy on What You Can’t Control
THE MIND’S BIG WORRY
Do you worry? Do you worry a lot? Does it take over your life where you feel unsettled, anxious, concerned, and unable to get comfortable? Are you concerned with the past, present, or future?
Does your worry concern you, other people, or both? Are you someone who is worried about world affairs, your personal life, your children’s life, what about your grandchildren?
It’s easy to feel worried about uncertain events in life. It’s easy to fear the worst and start contemplating “what if” scenarios in your mind, imagine the wild possibilities that could exist, except these “what if” scenarios are exactly that “what if’s!
Isn’t it amazing how far your mind will take you? What’s even more amazing is how far it will take you and you don’t even know that it’s happening! Your mind is grabbing a hold of these concepts, worrying to death, almost as if it’s real! Yet it’s only happening in your thinking mind.
Imagination will take you on a wild roller coaster ride if you are not aware of it. If you are not aware of it, you are simply strapped in, going along for the ride, reacting to everything around you without an ounce of awareness to tell you otherwise.
Can you relate? Have you ever felt like your mind is out of control, thinking about the worst possible circumstances, yet you have know idea how to stop it? Well, you’re not alone! This happens to ALL of us. Some experience it more intensely, but all of us share the mind’s ability to create theater, which can create overwhelming WORRY.
THE NEED FOR CONTROL
Have you ever wondered why this is happening? Why does the mind spin us into possibilities that may or may not happen? And why is it we spend so much time entertaining these possibilities that aren’t even happening?
It seems the mind wants to dominate our attention and focus. It continues to project past experiences or future events to exhibit massive control. The mind has so much control over us, yet we CAN take our power back. We have handed over authority to the ego thinking mind. It’s easier to run around in circles inside of the mind than it is to wake up and recognize, “I don’t have to believe what my mind is telling me!”
The mind will keep you stuck in a cycle of worry and concern as long as you give it the power to do so. Just because various thoughts and circumstances are created in your mind does not mean that you need to let it control you.
There is a way out of constant worry, anxiety, and nervousness. You don’t have to be controlled by your mind, you can shift out of the thinker, pull back, and realize, it’s not necessary to give all of your power to things that aren’t happening. Just because you think they might happen, doesn’t mean they will. So, why spend the time worrying about it.
SURRENDER THE OUTCOME
If you are tired of worrying about everything, if you are over feeling sick to your stomach, paranoid about the future, and what is going to happen to you or your loved ones, there is a way out! SURRENDER!
You certainly don’t have to grab a hold of these thoughts and believe them, you can surrender the need to know. You don’t have to see these dramatic thoughts as real. You can see it for what it is, the mind gone wild, looking to control your life, and steal your energy away from the current moment to put your attention on “what if” scenarios.
To truly get out of worrying 24/7, you can ask a serious of questions to help you surrender to the now moment, and get comfortable with not knowing what lies ahead.
Why are you worried about what will happen in the future? Trace this as far as you can to get to the bottom of what you are really afraid of.
Is it worth your energy to worry all the time? What else could you accomplish or focus on in life if you weren’t pre-occupied with worrying?
Can you really control what happens in the future anyway? Can you control how your life unfolds all the time, or your loved one’s lives unfold? Maybe you need to experience certain things in life for your own learning, even if you don’t agree with what is happening. The same is true for your loved ones. Can you control what they need to go through?
Would you rather be worried or at peace? Would you rather feel fear or love and contentment? Why do you think your mind is addicted to feeling unsettled? Can you access your ability to choose, and see you don’t have to believe the worrying thoughts your mind is presenting you?
Surrender is easier said than done. What does it mean to surrender to your worry? How do you let go if you are a chronic worrier?
Consider dropping the need to know the outcome of everything in your life, other people’s lives, or the world at large. Why do you need to know? Can you be comfortable in the unknown and trust that everything will work as it should?
Can you bring yourself into a peaceful state in the present moment? How do you feel when you do this? When you are completely at ease, are you worried about anything?
Life is so beyond our control that it seems silly to try and figure out every outcome. Can you leave it up to the greater intelligence field that surrounds us? Can you just let everything be?
Allowing yourself to go with the flow of life can alleviate unnecessary worry, anxiety, panic, and all the other uncomfortable symptoms that accompany these emotions. Recognizing you can’t control it anyway, should be exactly what you need to let go of chronic worry.
